My second bog coat this month has not been made with my own weaving. I travelled to India and the Himalayan region a couple of years ago, and while I was in Gangtok, Sikkim I saw a beautiful Tibetan Yak wool blanket in a market. It was very soft and lightweight, but warm, and my first thought was: This will be perfect for making a bog coat!

This design has been a bit more unconventional than the traditional bog coat that I made for my previous post, because the blanket was quite big – 36 x 80 inches.

Also, there are strong colour contrasts, so I needed to cut and piece the coat in order to get the red panels at the front.

But one advantage of having too much cloth was that I was able to inset pockets where the red panels attach!
